UX Production Designer
Location: Remote but local to Cupertino, CA, Culver City, CA, or New York, NY
Duration: 12 months to start
Pay: $72/hr, DOE (W2 and benefit options)
Planet Interactive is looking for a UX Production Designer to join our well-known Fortune 500 client on a 12-month contract. This role will be 40 hours per week and is remote but the candidate must be local to Cupertino, CA, Culver City, CA, or New York, NY.
The UX Production Designer is a key team player in ensuring new design intentions of the client's products. In this role, you will provide technical production expertise combined with an extraordinary sense of design and technical acumen to maintain the high-level design and quality standards that are the hallmark of the client. We're looking for an experienced UX Production Designer who is passionate about technical production and workflow processes. You'll work with designers and engineers to ensure a successful product for both the platform and its users.
UX Production Designer Responsibilities:
- Lead the process of translating designs into technical products -templates and themes - across three apps
- Create files and understand how the end user will experience the template and the app on all platforms, as well as any new app features being introduced
- Manage hands-on production and workflow development
- Collaborate with Content Design to produce new design templates
- Accurately build new templates and follow established methods for successful deliverables
- Audit various template features, functions, imagery, placeholder text
- Pressure test new template designs and expose discrepancies in design goals vs production realities
- Work with ENG to add new features to accomplish goals when possible
- AX Test new templates and sample docs
- Cross check new content to guarantee our work moves into the builds without creating bugs
- Create content and include the new features occurring in parallel with feature development, informing ENG of content creation/import processes and dependencies
- Check out repos and changes to content files and import-generated files
- Understand how repos behave, track file changes for bug investigations and fix conflicts
- Work in SourceTree and/or Terminal for GitHub management
- Deploy updated ENG requirements including creating Pull Requests for multiple repo check-ins as well as manage the impact on workflow
- Partner closely with ENG as new processes are required and are tested and tweaked in collaboration
- Write, investigate, and collaborate with Design to fix bugs
- Investigate apps and content to diagnose issues QA finds and communicate findings and proposed fix both efficiently and effectively
- Communicate with ENG regarding the need for updates to the Ginger Native Tools (GNT) app in response to fixing bugs or feature additions or process enhancements
- Proactively define and test Native Tool improvements by working with Content ENG
- Have an awareness of LOC layout impacts in new template designs
UX Production Designer Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
- An understanding of GitHub, Terminal, and Radar
- Management experience in a related field
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Highly organized and excellent at recognizing inconsistencies with impeccable production skills (layout, typography & color)
- A deep appreciation for finding simple solutions to complex problems
- Ability to manage several multi-layered files and a variety of apps
- Comfortable working in rapid iteration
- Coding and software development experience preferred
- Experience in complex technical workflows in a software environment
- Experience in software testing on different hardware environments
- Fluent in Keynote, Pages, and Numbers
- Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
