Job Description: Senior Tech lead/ Architect
Location: Portland, Oregon
About the Role:
We're looking for an experienced Solution Architect with strong hands-on expertise in Spring Boot, Spring, AWS, and containerization using Docker. In this role, you'll design scalable, cloud-native systems, lead technical planning, and work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software. You'll also mentor developers and help set the technical direction for key projects.
What You'll Do:
• Design and architect modern backend systems using Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and microservices principles.
• Build and deploy applications using Docker containerization, following cloud-native best practices.
• Work extensively with AWS services, including MSK (Kafka), EC2, RDS, S3, Redis, and InfluxDB.
• Break down complex features into technical tasks and guide the development team through implementation.
• Write critical code components and prototypes to establish system direction.
• Review code, ensure quality standards, and lead design discussions.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, and DevOps teams to align architecture with business needs.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team learning and growth.
Must-Have Skills:
• Deep expertise in Spring Boot and the broader Spring ecosystem.
• Proven experience with Docker and modern containerization techniques.
• Strong background in AWS cloud services (Kafka/MSK, RDS, EC2, S3, Redis, etc.).
• 10+ years of experience in Java (or C ), with 5+ years in architecture and leadership roles.
• Solid grasp of microservice design, object-oriented programming, and stateful systems.
• Strong unit testing experience with JUnit or similar frameworks.
• Experience writing technical specs and mentoring other developers.
Nice to Have:
• Domain knowledge in power systems, battery technologies, or electric vehicles.
• Familiarity with SQL, React, Python, shell scripting, DataBricks, and Atlassian tools.
• Exposure to AI tools like Amazon Q, ChatGPT, or GitHub Copilot.
