We are looking for Pre-Kindergarten Teaching Assistants for our William E. Cottle School location in Eastchester, NY for the school year.

STATUS: Part-time, non-exempt
PAY: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
SCHEDULE: 10 Months (September-June)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Applicants should possess motivation and creativity, demonstrate a positive demonstration of strong interpersonal communication skills, be active in working within a team, and consistently demonstrate punctuality and attendance.
Develop respectful relationships with the children, families, and UPK team members to ensure a caring and welcoming environment for children.
Meet each child's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive needs in your classroom. Plan for each childs development with intentionality.
Assist the Lead Teacher with the classroom's appearance, dcor, and learning environment.
Assist in establishing and maintaining an environment for children that is clean, safe, stimulating, and appropriate for each childs developmental level.
Must be a flexible team player and can work well with others.
Assume an equal share of the staff's housekeeping responsibilities.
Assume the role of leadership in the absence of the Lead Teacher.
Interact with the children using developmentally appropriate practices.
Ability to manage the classroom through positive redirection, problem-solving, setting appropriate limits, and active listening.
Support Lead Teacher in the development and implementation of lesson plans.
Follow through on additional duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or GED required.
An associate's degree in education or a related field is preferred.
Childcare: 1 year (Preferred).
Classroom management: 1 year (Preferred).
Teaching: 1 year (Preferred).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Lifting and carrying children.
Close contact with children.
Direct supervision of children.
Assisting children with toileting and hand washing.
Must have the stamina and physical flexibility (walking, sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, pulling, running, reaching, climbing, lifting, and carrying up to 50 lbs.) without assistance to participate in childrens activities.
