LINUX/UNIX SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR (RDT&E) TEKsystems is seeking a skilled Linux/Unix Systems Administrator to join our team in Dahlgren, VA. The Linux/Unix Administrator will be responsible for system administration and customer support of servers and workstations in a Research, Development, Testing, and Evaluation (RDT&E) environment. Responsibilities:
- Provide technical problem-solving and in-depth consulting for system operations.
- Collaborate as part of a team responsible for the administration and management of servers, end-user workstations, and potentially clustered systems operating in both unclassified and classified network environments.
- Analyze, design, and implement modifications to system software to improve performance, correct errors, or fulfill specific needs.
- Participate in planning new hardware acquisitions, developing operating policies, interacting with vendors, educating customers, and communicating and collaborating with other projects within the organization.
- Work closely with scientists and engineers to help them utilize workstations and servers to solve computationally intensive problems.
- Support individual user workstations and associated software.
- Provide support for application installation, license management, software tracking/distribution, and backup/recovery of system configurations and user data files.
- Assist users in applying for accounts and approving user access. Qualifications: - A minimum of 2-5 years of demonstrated experience in system administration of Linux-based workstations.
- Experience with Ubuntu workstations, including installation, configuration, regular maintenance, and security.
- Provide user support and ensure seamless integration with existing systems.
- Well-developed Linux system management skills.
- Experience with HP and Dell hardware systems.
- Must meet DoD 8570 Information Assurance Workforce (IAWF) criteria or Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification at the time of hire.
- Demonstrated experience working in an environment with rapidly changing job priorities. Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift up to 10-15 pounds.
- Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to twist, bend, and squat periodically.
- Must be able to maintain a security clearance at the Top Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for this contract.
