Responsibilities Join the team at Northridge Hospital Medical Center as a Unit Secretary in our Orthopedics Unit and play a vital role in ensuring smooth and efficient operations, ultimately contributing to exceptional patient care. As a Unit Secretary, you will provide essential clerical and administrative support to the team, working under the direct supervision of licensed personnel. You will be responsible for:
- Order Management: Transcribing, transmitting, and placing physician orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring timely communication to the appropriate departments.
- Patient Admissions and Discharges: Coordinating the efficient and timely admission, discharge, and transfer of patients using the hospital's computer system.
- Reception and Communication: Providing excellent customer service by answering phones, greeting visitors, and directing inquiries with courtesy and professionalism.
- Clerical Support: Maintaining organized patient charts, managing supplies, and performing other clerical tasks as needed to support the nursing staff.
- Maintaining a Professional Environment: Ensuring a clean, organized, and professional work area.
Qualifications
- Minimum one (1) year of medical clerical duties in an acute care environment required.
- Completion of an accredited/approved medical terminology course preferred.
- Proficient with AS400/Cerner preferred.
- Current AHA BLS card required.
- LA City Fire Card required within 90 days of hire.
