The Position:EMC has an exciting opportunity for a Unisys COBOL Application Developer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate has experience modifying and maintaining a Unisys COBOL based system and experience dealing with legacy style online and batch applications, systems, and data storage.
Role Specific Duties: - Assist in interpreting software requirements and design specifications to code and integrate and test software components.
- Perform maintenance and testing activities for newly implemented and existing applications
- Analyze user requirements, document, and revise systems functionalities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and solve application problems
- Provide production support and maintain existing systems by researching and troubleshooting any problems
- Identify form and coded changes that may affect other systems up and down work stream.
- Use established tools and procedures for software source control
- Review computer system capabilities, workflow, and help resolve limitations
- Analyze computer source code and live performance indicators to locate code problems and correct errors
- Experience working effectively in a highly collaborative Agile team
- Analyze new tools and technologies and assist with implementation inside existing architectures.
- Experience working in a water fall development environment.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance as required
Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent with 10 years' experience developing software and/or web applications
- 5+ years of experience with Unisys COBOL
- 5+ years of experience with Executive Control Language.
- 5+ years doing development in a Unisys mainframe environment.
- Must be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills while functioning effectively under time constraints in a dynamic environment where quality results are imperative
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
- Ability to handle multiple projects, multiple systems, respond well to shifting priorities, work well under pressure
