About the Role:
As an Underwriting Analyst at LotusGroup Capital, you'll work behind the scenes to optimize policy premiums and support investment decisions in the life settlement space. While you won't interact directly with clients, your work will be integral to our team's success and will help ensure smooth operations with vendors and partners. This role offers the chance to deepen your knowledge of life settlement underwriting, risk evaluation, and portfolio management while playing a key part in our team's efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in underwriting life insurance policies by analyzing policy details, medical records, and financial data.
- Evaluate life insurance policy data to determine optimal premium schedules and identify cost-saving structures.
- Support senior analysts in evaluating risk, life expectancy estimates, and investment potential.
- Utilize Excel skills to develop financial models, perform scenario analysis, and track key metrics.
- Run financial models in Excel to assess shadow account performance and policy projections.
- Prepare clear reports and presentations to communicate findings to senior team members.
- Assist in maintaining and developing pricing tools, internal benchmarks, and underwriting processes.
- Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure seamless execution of underwriting tasks.
What We're Looking For:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Economics, or a related field.
- Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel (complex formulas, financial modeling, data manipulation).
- Attention to Detail: Methodical, detail-oriented approach to data analysis. You spot inconsistencies that others might miss.
- Critical Thinking: Ability to think analytically and solve data-based challenges.
- Ownership & Commitment: Demonstrates a strong sense of ownership and commitment to quality in their work, ensuring every task is handled with care and precision.
- Team Player: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Bonus: Prior experience or interest in financial analysis, actuarial science, life insurance, VBA coding, or underwriting is a plus.
