Description

SUMMARY:

The Underwriter will be responsible for the underwriting and production of all assigned accounts/brokers that fall within their assigned jurisdiction or team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Underwrite risks for assigned producers and/or assigned teams or jurisdiction within established guidelines and within personal authority level
  • Review, quote, and bind new submissions and renewal business within company standards and systems
  • Meet all current premium production objectives by writing profitable renewal business. Renewal underwriting objectives take precedence over New business production
  • Broker development
  • Participate in monthly underwriting review meetings
  • Market C&S Specialty Underwriters products to brokers, prospects, and insureds. (This includes travel to producer/prospect locations)
  • Actively participates in the underwriting team to meet objectives. Works to identify and resolve teamwork issues
  • Client/policyholder/broker service
  • Input all technical information into systems required for the underwriting analysis and for policy issuance
  • Document files with account analysis, underwriting, and financial documentation within established standards
  • Assist in establishing underwriting guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Assist in training all new underwriting personnel, including participation in training sections
  • Assist in developing reports and analyses of underwriting efforts and results
  • Liaison with insureds and producers
  • Work closely with Loss Control professionals for technical evaluation of submissions
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent in related work experience.
  • Insurance-related continuing education a plus (i.e., CIC, INS, CPCU)

WORKING CONDITIONS AND REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS:
  • Fast-paced, multi-tasking, office environment with periodic high disruption and changing priorities
  • Ability to perform approximately 80% sedentary work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and negligible force frequently
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally
  • Requires operation of a computer workstation, including keyboard and video display
