Under general supervision, this position performs tasks associated with the installation of underground gas utilities, electrical, communication and/or tv cable. The ideal candidate will operate a variety of power construction equipment and assists other crew members in performing other duties associated with the project.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Works under the direct supervision of an assigned Foreman and Construction Supervisor.
Ability to operate necessary equipment related to natural gas construction, including the operation of various excavation equipment utilized to install gas mains, service lines, service taps, regulator stations and meter sets as well as various maintenance operations.
Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all equipment. All equipment utilized for installation operations shall be used in compliance with Company construction and maintenance specifications and procedures.
Responsible for keeping the assigned construction excavation and installation equipment properly maintained, safe and fully operational at all times.
Responsible at times to work with no immediate direct supervision.
Responsible for adhering to all company policies and procedures paying special attention to health and/or safety procedures.
Responsible for lifting and carrying material and equipment throughout the work area using appropriate equipment and/or safety gear.
Communicates all pertinent job related information to supervisor on a daily basis.
Performs plastic fusion in compliance with Company specifications and procedures.
Performs all other natural gas construction related duties as per Operator Qualification certifications.
Performs any and all other duties assigned by authorized personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have previous experience operating heavy equipment (backhoe, bore machine, trencher, etc )
Must have one to three years utility construction experience
Must have ability to follow directions
Must be able to work effectively as part of a crew
Must have the ability to operate manual and mechanical equipment necessary to complete jobs
Must have or able to obtain knowledge of Operators Qualification Task certifications related to natural gas installation and maintenance as well as various other required safety related training certifications (First Aid, Competent Person, etc )
ON-CALL AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires working overtime and may require weekend work, night work and/or overnight travel.
