Position Title Undergraduate Research Assistant Department Assessment/Accreditation Appointment Term Academic Year (August - May) FLSA Non-Exempt Job Summary Working with the Director of Assessment and Accreditation, the research assistant will learn skills in: researching and summarizing literature reviews, documenting and summarizing research findings, fundamental project management, producing materials for project meetings, and developing and distributing a newsletter. Work dates expected to be: 09-06-2024 to 05-02-2025 Essential Duties The research assistant will: Practice researching and summarizing published materials related to curricular and co-curricular assessment practices and trends in higher education. Practice researching and summarizing published materials related to University accreditation through the Higher Learning Commission. Practice producing an internal newsletter with varied audiences Practice developing materials and preparation for project meetings Practice developing and implementing long and short-term projects Required Qualifications MWSU Student Degree Seeking At least an overall 2.75 GPA Enrolled at least part-time Must be eligible for Federal Work Study Preferred Qualifications Previous experience working independently following a training period. Previous experience distinguishing between reliable and questionable sources of information Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to ask questions and learn new skills. Ability to apply existing knowledge or learn basic Excel functions. Ability to use existing knowledge or learn to identify reliable sources of data and information. Ability to use existing knowledge or to learn and apply basic project management skills Physical Demands Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
