Job Summary:Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine (GCSOM) invites applications for a full-time faculty position (1.0 FTE) at any/open rank (Assistant, Associate, Full Professor) in the field of Neuroscience. The primary focus of this role is teaching, with the faculty member expected to support the curriculum design and delivery of neuroscience discipline content in the GCSOM's integrated, active learning-based curriculum. Rank is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
GCSOM was established in Scranton, PA, in 2008 through the grassroots efforts of visionary individuals who foresaw what a community-based medical school would bring to the region and worked to make it a reality. GCSOM is part of Geisinger College of Health Sciences and includes a School of Nursing, School of Graduate Education and a Research Institute distributed over six regional campuses. This position is based in the Scranton, PA, campus.
The MD Curriculum is an integrated, active learning-based curriculum built on the clinical presentation model and uses emerging neurobiological evidence on knowledge acquisition, skill development and wellness to shape a robust approach to medical school teaching and learning. The curriculum also features our Systems, Society, and Humanism in Medicine (SSHM) core, composed of six longitudinal themes that are integrated throughout the curriculum meant to transform socially responsible students into socially accountable leaders in the healthcare system and their communities. In addition, Geisinger's longstanding commitment to patient access and clinical excellence has a been a driving force in shaping our approach to medical education. The GCSOM curriculum also provides a strong foundation in research offering a robust range of research opportunities including: a four-year Medical Research Honors Program, a Summer Research Immersion Program and other longitudinal research opportunities.
Job Duties:- Serve as a member of a faculty neuroscience discipline team and work in collaboration with team members to develop and deliver integrated neuroscience content for the MD program.
- Participate in the development of formative and summative assessments.
- Serve as a co-course director in our phase 1 (pre-clerkship) UME courses.
- Develop or participate in collaborative scholarship in medical education or your field of expertise/interest.
- Supervise/mentor medical students in scholarly projects.
- Participate in the MD student interviewing and selection process.
- Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, trainings, workshops, literature review, and professional affiliations in medical education and your field of expertise/interest.
- Participate in service to the department, institution, or field of interest.

Position Details:Highly Preferred Qualifications:- Terminal Degree (e.g., Ph.D., MD, DO) with clinical or educational experience (or equivalent).
- Experience in higher education, with specific experience in Neuroscience, Neuroanatomy, Neurophysiology, or related areas.
- Experience with active learning/flipped classroom/evidence-based pedagogy (e.g., Case Based Learning, simulation, Team Based Learning).
- Demonstrated ability or potential for developing scholarship in medical education or your field of expertise/interest that comports with academic rank.
- Preferred candidates will have experience in course leadership and/or leading teams of faculty.
