Opportunity Skybound is looking for an experienced and passionate UI Engineer to help build a thrilling new game franchise. UI Engineers bridge the gap between design and implementation, ensuring smooth, responsive, and immersive user interfaces. From developing UI systems to optimizing performance and integrating assets, the UI Engineer plays a key role in delivering a seamless player experience.
As a UI Engineer, you will work collaboratively with designers, artists, and engineers to implement UI elements and user flows in a custom version of UE5. You'll develop and refine UI tools, optimize performance, and bring wireframes and mockups to life through code. Reports: This position will report to the Technical Director.
Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Establish the visual style and visual flow of menus and HUD elements
- Develop and implement UI systems, menus, and HUD elements in UE5
- Work closely with UI/UX designers and artists to bring their vision to life
- Optimize UI performance and ensure smooth player interactions
- Implement animations, transitions, and interactive elements
- Develop and maintain UI-related tools, workflows, and best practices
- Debug and resolve UI-related technical issues
- Collaborate with gameplay and tools engineers to improve functionality and pipeline efficiency
- Ensure UI is scalable across multiple resolutions and platforms
Requirements- 3+ years of experience in game development
- 3+ years of professional experience in a UX role
- Portfolio of UI/UX work
- Experience on multi-sku, multi-resolution console and PC projects
- Experience working with UMG (Unreal Motion Graphics)
- Strong understanding of UI/UX conventions
- Ability to create high-quality work in a fast-paced environment and able to incorporate feedback from multiple stakeholders from multiple teams
Preferred Qualifications- Experience working in 3D with motion
- UE4/5 experience
- Passion for video game development, combat-oriented games, and Skybound IP
Job Type: Regular, Full-Time
Salary Range: $130,000-$150,000
- Actual base salary is dependent on several factors including but not limited to; market dynamics, location and region, experience, specialized skills/training (education), level of responsibility, budgetary considerations, tenure at the company (for current employees), etc.
