The Turfgrass Management Intern, working under direct supervision, is responsible for supporting Hospitality function with day-to-day Golf, Ground, and Maintenance operations. This is a development role focused on building skills and gaining experience associated with a career in Turfgrass Management and/or Golf. The role focuses on learning operational elements, business operations, golf industry careers, and golf and business etiquette. The role performs duties related to course setup, agronomic program execution, and other related tasks that directly impact the conditioning of the golf courses.
- Assisting in the day-to-day operations of various departments within the hospitality establishment.
- Assists in the day-to-day maintenance of the company's Club grounds department, working closely with management to understand daily priorities.
- Performs assigned golf course or ground maintenance and upkeep using a variety of equipment and tools including, but not limited to, mowers, utility vehicles, tractors, string trimmers, blowers and other specialty equipment.
- Gains knowledge and/or develops skills in fertilization, aeration, topdressing and pesticide application according to ODA regulations. Documents and registers such a request in accordance with official development assistance standards.
- Gains experience to help lead and support day-to-day Hospitality activities, including directing other seasonal employees.
- Assists in the planning and execution of events or functions, including coordinating logistics, setting up venues, and providing on-site support. Works under the supervision of an Equipment Technician to gain experience in maintenance and repair of environmental equipment, which may include, but is not limited to, sharpening sand rollers and base cutters, sharpening mowers, washing and machine parts, lubrication and oil checks, etc.
- Assists in training and imparting information on proper procedures and processes, equipment uses, daily operations, and Company safety compliance as directed and depending on experience level.
- Achieves Company's high standards of quality, production, collaboration and service to our employees, guests and customers.
- Assists the Hospitality unit in completing the tasks assigned which often includes, but is not limited to, project work and covering the day-to-day hospitality operations.
- Drives service vehicle(s) in order to perform essential job functions. This may involve traveling on short notice or other daily driving duties as assigned.
- 0-2 years of experience in Hospitality Operations or a related field.
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) and/or commensurate experience.
- Valid driver's license and a driving record that conforms to company standards.
- Availability to work a variable schedule including weekends and some holidays.
