Position Description:

Zenith Bank & Trust is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Trust Officer to join our dynamic team. This role will focus on maintaining and expanding client relationships, administering trust accounts, and delivering exceptional wealth management solutions. The ideal candidate will excel at providing fiduciary services, analyzing complex estate planning needs, and collaborating with internal and external partners to achieve client and company goals.


Responsibilities:


Client Relationship Management:

  • Maintain trust account relationships to develop and retain satisfied, loyal clients.
  • Adhere to high service standards while identifying opportunities for additional bank products to meet client needs.
  • Initiate and attend meetings with beneficiaries and portfolio managers to review and recommend updates to wealth planning objectives.

Estate and Wealth Planning:

  • Analyze complex estate planning needs, propose solutions, and assist clients in reviewing ideas with trust and estate (T&E) attorneys.
  • Partner with the Portfolio Manager to create and deliver fiduciary-oriented wealth plans.
  • Review Trust's monthly Schwab statements, ensure alignment with the Investment Policy Statement (IPS), and assess RIA fees of the trusts.

Fiduciary Administration:

  • Approve and direct disbursements of fiduciary funds.
  • Oversee preparation of federal and state tax returns for trusts by accounting firms.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal rules and regulations.

Training and Thought Leadership:

  • Act as an internal and external thought leader, providing training to clients and associates on estate planning and tax matters.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor junior Trust Officers and Trust Associates, assisting with onboarding new associates as needed.

Business Development:

  • Identify and introduce new opportunities through networking and consultative selling.
  • Promote fiduciary services to prospective clients, attorneys, accountants, and financial planners.
  • Provide sales support for new trust opportunities, coordinate the preparation of fiduciary sales presentations, and manage follow-up through account opening.

Regulatory and Policy Compliance:

  • Remain current on changes to trust, estate, and tax laws and apply knowledge to trust account administration.
  • Ensure compliance with all Zenith policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.

Community Engagement:

  • Maintain a strong presence in local markets through philanthropic involvement and participation on business boards.
  • Build a network with like-minded professionals within the industry.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate across teams to provide a holistic approach to client needs, driving referrals to other business lines.
  • Complete all assigned training, Human Capital documentation, and other tasks as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Law, or a related field (preferred)
  • Advanced certifications such as Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor (CTFA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Juris Doctor (JD) are a plus
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in trust administration, estate planning, or fiduciary services
  • In-depth understanding of trust laws, estate planning, and fiduciary principles
  • Strong understanding of tax regulations impacting estates and trusts
  • Strong analytical skills for assessing financial and estate strategies
  • Proficiency in managing client relationships and delivering tailored solutions
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Strong ethical standards and a client-first mentality
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
