General Description:

This position annually recruits and assists Guidance for Realizing Individual Transformation (GRIT) participants in enrolling in post-secondary education or obtaining a credential; assists with ensuring that the plan of operation is addressed as referred to in the grant.

This appointment is contingent upon availability of grant funding. Once the funds from the grant that provide funding for this appointment are no longer available, this appointment may be terminated without cause upon written notice to the employee.

Minimum Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree

Minimum (2) years' experience working with adult student populations

Equivalency/substitution: Associate degree and four (4) years' of experience working with adult student populations.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
The work is sedentary work which requires the person in this position to occasionally exert up to 10 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

This position requires the person to frequently move about the Career Transitions Office, OCCC campus, and off-site outreach locations.

This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to students, faculty, staff, administration, and others to perform the essential functions of the position; must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.

This position requires the person to frequently remain in a standing and stationary position.

This position requires the person to frequently use upper and lower body to exert force up to 10 pounds to lift materials or equipment.

This position requires the person to frequently position self to access materials that may be above head or at ground level.

This position requires the person to frequently operate a computer, other office machinery, and mobile devices to perform the essential functions of the position.

This position requires the person to frequently operate equipment that involves repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

This position requires the person to judge, observe, and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.

Work is performed in a relatively safe and secure office within a College work environment.

Work is performed during office hours including off-campus responsibilities with evenings and weekends as needed.

Job Duties (Position Specific):

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement):

Initiates and completes project activities which take place at the College, community agencies, churches, businesses, and community organizations.

Conducts academic enrichment workshops both on campus and off campus to include workshops on financial literacy education, study skills, test-taking skills, and time management.

Provides individual and group counseling, career development counseling, and information on post-secondary education opportunities.

Assists students in completing post-secondary education admissions applications and financial aid forms; coaches students for entrance exams.

Must travel within the assigned counties (Grady, Kingfisher, Lincoln, Oklahoma, and Pottawatomie) to identify and assist clients with post-secondary education enrollment or obtaining a credential.

Maintains and updates a participant recruitment base of applicants and provides monthly applicant follow up via phone call, visit, email, etc.

Administers career assessment inventories to participants or refers to the College's certified practitioner for assessment.

Provides follow-up with clients to ensure that they are enrolled in College and making progress.

Assists in the development and/or selection of program marketing materials including flyers, brochures, posters, and multi-media presentations.

Coordinates and participates in both on and off campus program activities, i. e. College meetings, conferences, participant activities.

Performs other duties outlined by the GRIT Program Coordinator and the Director of the TRIO Program within the parameters of the U. S. Department of Education guidelines.

Maintains current knowledge of programs, trends, and new developments in federal TRIO programs.

Serves on various College committees as assigned.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures.

Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.

Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.

Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC's established safety and health procedures and practices.

Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
