Expected Pay Range: $285 per day when traveling. Plus $55/day per diem and H&W.

Summary and Scope

The Food Service Technician's primary responsibility is to assist the Food Service Team in executing food service contracts. The secondary responsibility is to assist with food service equipment inventory. Jobs and duties will vary by contract requirements.

This is contract work on an as-needed basis. Upon completion of your background check, screens, and New Hire Orientations, the Food Service Technician is placed on unpaid reserve status until needed. Upon being called to work, the ability to work flexible hours (including nights, weekends, and holidays) is required. This job operates 24/7/365.

Essential Functions
  • Based on contract needs, the Technician will be in a cafeteria-style setting, helping with the preparation, presentation and serving of meals.
  • Inspects, cleans, and sanitizes, and maintains tidiness of all food contact surfaces and equipment including but not limited to countertops, work surfaces, and display areas daily, weekly, and monthly.
  • Receives deliveries, unloads delivery trucks, stores stock, takes count of inventory.
  • Assembles simple, high volume request meals including but not limited to repetitiously building sandwiches and filling and rolling burritos, as required by contract.
  • Perform basic math for portioning and food waste management.
  • Packing takeaway meals, when required by contract.
  • Adheres to pre-determined rotating menu or other specific requests made by client.
  • When contract requires, produces hot and/or cold foods using ready-to-eat and prepared ingredients using the following techniques: slicing, boiling, thawing, large batch mixing, reheating, frying, roasting, and more.
  • Assist in performance of Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) program.
  • Ability to serve food in remote locations away from production facility taking up to 12000 steps per day.
  • Communicates well with the Food Service Manager to ensure the proper quantity and quality of meals are ready at the time of service.
  • Based on contract needs, the Technician will be in a cafeteria-style setting, helping with the preparation, presentation and serving of meals.
  • Trains on forklift safety and acts as a spotter for forklift drivers, when needed.
  • Exhibits safe and proficient knife skills.
  • Breaks down boxes and takes out trash after each meal service and as needed throughout the day.
  • Perform proper labeling and storage of TCS foods (time and temperature controlled for safety).
  • Uses electronic device to complete daily safety, quality, and sanitation checks.
  • Uses electronic device to log hours, complete online trainings, access emails, etc.
  • Perform all duties with a positive attitude towards coworkers, vendors, and customers.
  • Maintains professional demeanor during all travel times, including in airports, on flights, in hotels, and additionally anytime when in public places in uniform.
  • Train and mentor new staff as required, including leading site tours for first deployments as well as all daily tasks.
  • Masters use of pallet jack and other human-assist tools / equipment.
  • Occasionally assist in organizing and cleaning company owned facilities & storage yards.
  • Drive box trucks or delivery vans to pick up and deliver catered meals and drop off temperature-controlled packaging weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted (or heavier with the use of proper equipment and procedures), as needed.

Skills and Specifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare a wide variety of meals either via cooking or assisting in basic assembly.
  • Complete understanding of food allergens.
  • Knowledge of food inventory management (FIFO).
  • Knowledge of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points, TB MED-530, FDA and U.S Department of Health and Human Services Food Code standards.
Required Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required
  • 4+ years of experience in the large-scale Government facility dining, Banquet, Catering, or Restaurant industry is required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Knowledgeable in inventory control. HACCP, TB MED-530, FDA and U.S Department of Health and Human Services Food Code standards.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have (and maintain) a clean driving record.
  • An active ServSafe Food Handlers and allergen certification is desired.
    • Deployed Resources will provide this training, as needed.
  • Ives Forklift certification is desired.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, see, hear, stand, walk, bend, twist, kneel, climb, engage in repetitive motions, and use hands and fingers to manipulate objects, tools, or controls. May routinely and repetitively lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted (or heavier with the use of proper equipment and procedures).

Expected Hours of Work

The ability to work flexible hours including nights, holidays, and weekends will be required based on contract needs. It is expected for this position to attend regular meetings during typical work hours in Eastern Standard Time as well as meetings as needed for assigned projects in other time zones.

Work Environment

This job operates in office, facility, and field environments. We operate 24/7/365, inside and outside, in all weather conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment, hand tools, site equipment and vehicles, and is required to use and wear standard PPE, which will be provided by the company. There is an expectation of clear communication in English both written and orally.

Travel

This position requires up to 100% travel. Travel is dependent on contract load. The ability to travel to job sites and be away for extended periods of time based on contract needs is required. Short notice travel is required with 24-48 hours' notice.

Work Authorization
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to travel within the Continental United States (CONUS).
  • Must pass a drug test, motor vehicle record check, occupational health physical and lift test (if applicable), credit check (if applicable), and a background check upon accepting a conditional offer of employment.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license. Have/maintain a clean driving record.
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).
