Job Details - The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of specialized technical tasks in Diagnostic Ultrasound utilizing high frequency sound waves to assist medical and professional personnel in detecting anatomical abnormalities.
- Performs procedures according to departmental format, completing exam in allotted time.
- Performs required daily clerical duties, including use of EPIC, Tele tracking System, patient scheduling, and other computer systems.
- Performs portable ultrasound exams.
- Performs complex technical tasks in Diagnostic Ultrasound to detect anatomical abnormalities including masses, abscesses, and stones.
- Assists physician with biopsy deep abdominal studies and color-flow ultrasound as required.
- Prepares patients for diagnostic procedures, explains procedures, measures and positions patients for each anatomical view.
- Evaluates technical quality of images and processes images of pathogenic conditions.
- Maintains records of ultrasound taken, archiving and de-archiving data as required.
- Calibrates, cleans, and performs routine maintenance on equipment.
- Cleans and sterilizes instruments, stocks and replenishes supplies.
- Provides technical assistance and instruction to students, employees, and medical residents.
- Lifts a minimum of 25 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 50 lbs., and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.
- Greets patients using A.I.D.E.T. standards.
- Responsible for scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends.
- Overtime as needed to provide continual quality patient care.
- On call assignments as needed per Department of Radiology policy.
- Adheres to policies of Employee ID, Standards of Behavior, Attendance, and Punctuality.
- Identifies needs of patient population and modifies care accordingly.
- Adheres to standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.
Job Requirements - Must be able to perform CPR.
- Knowledge of all ultrasound equipment, their function, and operation of each control.
- Understanding of equipment and computer systems as well as procedures for equipment service.
- Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology.
- Knowledge of safety, infection, and disaster policy and procedures, including implementation of patient care in emergency situations.
- Maintains CEU Credits.
- Preferred: 1 year of clinical experience in ultrasound.

Additional Details - Required Skills & Experience include CPR ability, knowledge of ultrasound equipment and procedures, and maintenance of CEU credits.
