Job Title: Respiratory Therapist Job Specialty: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Job Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM Guaranteed Hours: 36 Experience: 2 Years Required License: MI License Required Certifications: BLS (AHA), NRP, NBRC (RRT) Must-Have: - BLS (AHA) - NRP - NBRC (RRT) - Michigan License - Work history - Skills Checklist, current to 1 year, pertinent to the specialty - 2 Supervisory References with dates employed Job Description: - Provide skilled and non-skilled respiratory care services including preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic, and rehabilitative services under physician orders. - Participate in the development, implementation, management, and evaluation of the multidisciplinary plan of care. - Perform resuscitation procedures, including CPR and airway management. Assist physicians with intubation as necessary. - Perform ECGs and draw arterial blood gases (ABGs). - Set up and operate devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators. - Determine treatment requirements based on physician orders and patient needs. - Monitor patient's physiological responses to therapy and consult with physicians if adverse reactions occur. - Read prescriptions and review patient information to assess patient condition. - Collaborate with healthcare team members to manage patient care. - Enforce safety rules and carefully adhere to physician orders. - Maintain accurate patient records and therapy information. - Inspect, clean, test, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment; order repairs as necessary. - Educate patients and families about conditions and teach disease management techniques. - Act as a resource for pulmonary assistants. - Perform administrative duties and maintain inventory and supplies. - Take on-call responsibilities as needed. - Maintain technical competence and demonstrate knowledge of hospital mission, vision, and values. - Provide care appropriate to the age and development of patients, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development over the lifespan.
