Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Job Duration: 12 Weeks Shift: 07:00-19:00 Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: Minimum of 1 year of NICU experience required License: Current RN license required Certifications: NRP & BLS Must-Have: - Two years of NICU experience - Proficiency in infant assessment - IV management and respiratory support management Job Description: - The unit consists of 146 beds, with 64 Level 3 & 4, and 82 Level 2 beds. - Staffing for day shift includes two charge nurses, nursing staff varying by census and acuity, clerical staff, and a nurse tech in Level 2. Night shift staffing is similar. - Patient ratios vary by acuity from 1:1 to 1:4. - All NICU equipment is used in the unit. - Electronic Medical Records are maintained with Meditech & CPN. - Procedures commonly performed include lumbar punctures, central line placement, circumcisions, and eye exams. - Ideal candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills, teamwork, and a focus on parent satisfaction and patient safety. - Floating may be required in all NICU areas, general nursery, and pediatrics with infant assignments. - Dress code requires royal blue scrubs. - Bare below the elbows policy is in effect, including naked nails. - A minimum of four weekend shifts and two Monday/Friday shifts per four-week schedule is required, with holidays as per unit guidelines.
