Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Location: Main Hospital, 3401 Civic Center Blvd, Philadelphia, PA 19104
Assignment Type: 13-week assignment
Hours: (3x12 shifts)
Shifts Available: Day Shift (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM) or Night Shift (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Schedule Requirements:

  • Weekdays required
  • Every 3rd weekend rotation required
  • Holiday commitment required
  • Flexible scheduling available Monday-Friday based on departmental needs
Job Summary:

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) functions as a clinically competent to proficient practitioner, delivering high-quality respiratory care to patients with emergency, acute, and intensive needs. This role operates under the direction of an ordering physician or clinician and follows established organizational policies and the AARC Clinical Practice Guidelines. The RRT serves as a clinical leader, role model, and preceptor, contributing to departmental goals and standards of care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver respiratory therapy treatments and interventions to patients with varying acuity
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans under clinical supervision
  • Monitor and adjust ventilator settings and oxygen therapy
  • Serve as a mentor and preceptor for new staff
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with protocols and safety standards
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives and continuing education
  • Utilize and navigate clinical communication and information systems effectively.

Required Qualifications:
  • License/Certification:
    • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
    • Valid Pennsylvania Respiratory Care License
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required
    • PALS, NRP, and ACLS - Preferred
  • Education:
    • Associate's degree with certificate of completion from an accredited Respiratory Care program
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years of respiratory care experience
    • Pediatric experience required
