  • Weekly Gross: $2,295.00 Per Week
  • On W2(Taxable): $720.00 Per Week ($20/hour)

Job Description:
We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Northwest Hospital. The PCU/Telemetry unit cares for patients with moderate to severe medical conditions who require continuous monitoring, but do not need intensive care. This unit has a strong cardiac focus and requires nurses who are proficient in telemetry, cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation, and cardiac monitoring.

As a nurse in this unit, you will work with patients recovering from cardiac procedures, stroke recovery, and other complex conditions that require constant monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide care for patients with cardiac and respiratory issues in a telemetry unit.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and other treatments as prescribed.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and interpret telemetry to identify dysrhythmias.
  • Perform peritoneal dialysis and other related procedures.
  • Manage non-titratable drips, including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Lasix, and Heparin as per protocols.
  • Respond to code team situations as a recorder and timekeeper.
  • Assist in managing chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac), external CPAP/BiPAP, and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC).
  • Interpret telemetry rhythms, monitor patients with IV insulin protocols, and administer necessary cardiac drips.
  • Use of rapid response teams and peripheral/PICC line management.

Floating: Will float to non-telemetry medical-surgical units when necessary, maintaining appropriate patient care ratios.

Requirements:
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years experience in PCU, Telemetry, or similar settings.
  • Licensure: Valid Maryland or Compact RN License required at the time of submission.
  • Certifications:
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (Required for stroke-certified unit)

Skills:
  • Cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management of cardiac drips.
  • IV/Phlebotomy skills, peripheral/PICC line management, and blood product administration
  • Ability to perform and monitor peritoneal dialysis, chest tubes, and respiratory care protocols.
