S-Tue 930-10p on week one and S-Wed 1130-10p on week 2.
Unit Notes - Radiology - General X-Ray
- Experience Requirements:
- Must have Operating Room (OR) experience.
- Experience with portable exams is required.
- Certifications:
- BLS certification required.
- ARRT certification required.
- Department Overview:
- Scanners/Rooms:
- 2 fixed ED units
- 1 fixed department unit
- 5 portable units (all Carestream)
- 1 fluoroscopy unit
- 1 C-arm for video swallow
- 5 surgical C-arms (all OEC)
- Cysto fluoro table
- Hybrid OR vascular unit (Siemens)
- Float Requirements:
- May need to float to ED/Inpatient (X-ray only).
- Common Imaging/Studies & Job Duties:
- Includes ED/trauma, OR, and Inpatient imaging.
- Non-OR fluoroscopic exams depending on experience and comfort level.
- Workload:
- Approximately 100-150 plain film exams per day.
- 10-15 OR cases per day.
- Systems Used:
- EMR: BAR (Allscripts-based system)
- PACS: Scimage PICOM
- Equipment Used:
- Carestream (fixed units and portables)
- Siemens (fluoroscopy)
- GE OEC (C-arms)
- Supervision:
- Department supervised by a Radiology Supervisor or Lead Tech.
- Additional Staff & Roles:
- No Registered Radiology Assistants (RRAs).
- Radiologist available in-house Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
- IV Starts:
- Not required in this department.
- Scheduling & Shifts:
- Block scheduling with some flexibility.
- Only one X-ray tech on duty from 11:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
- Travelers may be required to assist with holiday coverage.
- Weekend & Call Requirements:
- OR techs typically cover 1-3 on-call weekends during the contract.
- Weekday on-call/standby required for OR techs; scheduling is cooperative among day techs.
- Response time applies as per department standards.
- Dress Code:
- Light grey scrubs (not provided).
- Surgical scrubs acceptable for all staff covering OR.
- Orientation:
- Conducted during scheduled shifts.
- Additional Notes:
- Department hosts many radiology students.
- Travelers are expected to precept students.
