Position: Radiation Therapist
Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum 2 years
- First-Time Travelers: Not preferred, but may be considered based on experience (manager discretion)
- Block Scheduling: Not guaranteed
- Locals Accepted: No (50-mile radius rule from Cape Fear Valley Medical Center)
- License Status: Active license required (no pending)
- Time Off (RTO): At manager's discretion
- Guaranteed Hours: Call-off policy of 2 shifts per 13-week assignment, then all contracted hours are guaranteed
- Special Requirements:
- Return Staff Policy: Must be gone for at least 1 year to return as a traveler
- Extension Limit: Maximum of 2 contracts (must leave for 6 months before returning)
Responsibilities:
- Accurately administer ionizing radiation to a prescribed area per physician's dose orders
- Educate and inform patients and their families about radiation treatments
- Maintain accurate daily treatment schedules and verify treatment delivery
- Ensure accurate charge capture in the MOSAIQ system
- Collaborate with RNs, PAs, RDs, and MDs as needed
Education and Certifications:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Radiation Therapy
- Board Certified or Registry Eligible by ARRT in Radiation Therapy
- BLS certification required
Skills and Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and clinical oncology
- Proficient in radiation physics, radiation safety, and basic dosimetry theories
- Skilled in operating linear accelerators and simulator equipment
- Ability to follow complex treatment protocols and instructions
