Job Details - General Information
- Beds: 24 Pre-Op/Phase 2, 19 PACU
- Minimum experience: Must have 1.5 years of experience - system requirement
- Patient Types: Infants-Geriatric patient population, Endo patients, Ambulatory/Elective, Acute care/Trauma
- Patient Ratios: RN: Pre-Op 1:2-3, PACU 1:1 or 1:2, Phase 2 1:2-4
- Support on the Unit: CNA, Charge nurse, Phlebotomy, IV/VAT Team, Resource Nurse, RT, Hospitalist, Anesthesia/CRNA
- Charting System/Equipment: EPIC, Omnicell
- Floating: Routinely: PreOp, PACU, Endo prep and discharge, Phase 2
- Orientation: General facility orientation, 1 weeklong orientation - 1 day in each department (PreOp, PACU, Phase II, Endo)
Job Requirements - Required Certifications: RN: BLS, ACLS, PALS
- Required Education: Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing
- Skills required: Night shift RN only : MUST have Critical Care experience and competencies with ICU cases including hemodynamic drips and ventilated patients.
Schedule Information - Shift/Hours per week will depend on job posting - please have traveler confirm with recruiter prior to accepting, if offered.
- Could be one of the following: Days/Variable - 3 12's per week (Days - shift would vary between ), Nights - 3 12's per week (Nights - ). If working nights, their 3 shifts would be scheduled in a row
- Weekend rotation: Pre-Op/PACU staff have 4 weekend call teams, each caregiver responsible for a weekend call rotation every three weeks
- Call Required: Each caregiver has a call shift about every 2-3 weeks that is during Monday-Friday, in addition to their scheduled 36 hours
- Response time is 15 minutes. There is a sleep room and other options available.
- Holiday Expectations: Holidays are rotated between call teams; all holidays are on call rotations. Will work (2) holidays per year.
Unit Specific Information - RN: Comfortability with Preop, Recovery and Discharge of patients.
- Variable shift RN: May be learned in orientation, but competencies include: IV insertion, ventilator training, epidural/PCA set up/initiation, initiation of blood product transfusions, competency with administration and monitoring of moderate sedation.
