General Information: Beds: 36-48 (flex with semi-private rooms as needed)
Required experience: PCU RN: 1 year of nursing experience
Will accept a first-time traveler with greater than 1 year of experience, must have EPIC experience
Travelers must live 100 miles away from any Monument Health facility
Permanent staff must wait 1 full year to return as a traveler
Patient Types: Mixed unit (Med/Surg to IMC level, as well as Long Length stay patients)
Common diagnoses include DKA requiring insulin drips, Pre/post-surgical patients, cellulitis, influenza, UTIs, pneumonia, COPD, CHF, renal failure, hepatic failure, gastrointestinal disorders, soft tissue injury, minor fractures, DVTs, and CVA overflow.
We administer a variety of medications and manage various medical devices.

PCU RN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing
Comfortability to take MedSurg assignments
Previous experience with above-mentioned patients, including IMC/stepdown and neuro; ability to read/interpret cardiac strips, wound care, line management, drip titration of medications.

6-week schedules
Weekend rotation: Travelers could be scheduled for up to 4 out of the 6 weekends
No mandatory call time; could be placed on call for extra shifts if enough staff is available
Holiday Expectations: Currently not accepting RTO requests during holidays; must send RTO requests to manager for approval around winter holidays
Approval of time off: Ok to approve up to a week and a half; must extend if taking a full week off; blackout dates from August 1-18 due to Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

PCU RN will work through all areas including Long length of stay (MedSurg/NO Tele), Med Surg/Telemetry, and Intermediate Care.
