Roles and responsibilities:
- Monitor vital signs (e.g., heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation) frequently.
- Recognize early signs of patient deterioration.
- Manage telemetry (continuous cardiac monitoring).

- Administer IV, oral, and other forms of medications.
- Titrate medications such as cardiac drips (under protocol or orders).
- Ensure proper medication reconciliation and documentation.

- Conduct head-to-toe assessments every shift and as needed.
- Document findings in electronic health records (EHR) clearly and timely.
- Use critical thinking to interpret lab results, diagnostic tests, and clinical trends.
- Communicate changes in patient status with physicians and the interdisciplinary team.
- Collaborate with respiratory therapists, physical therapists, case managers, and social workers.
- Prepare patients and families for possible transfer to med-surg or discharge.
