Stepdown 2 years recent experience required Unit Notes - Cardiac Stepdown/PCU Tower 2 Start Date: 6/16 (Start dates are not flexible)

• Radius Rule: Must live 100+ miles from the facility

• Unit Type: Cardiac Stepdown / PCU
• of Beds: 36
• Nurse:Patient Ratios:
  • Days: 1:4
  • Nights: 1:5
  • Mixed MS and PCU patients possible
  • Med-Surg only: 1:5

Patient Population & Common Diagnoses

• Core Focus: Cardiac
• CHF, NSTEMI, MI, heart block, pacemakers, TAVR, CABG day 2, cath lab recovery (post-sheath removal), Watchman, bradycardia, VT
• Overflow Cases: Respiratory failure, hypotension, anemia, sepsis, post-op, etc.

Required Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS

Required Experience/Skills

• No first-time travelers
• Must have PCU/Stepdown/Telemetry experience
• Required drip experience (must titrate):
  • Amiodarone
  • Cardizem
  • Dobutamine
  • Dopamine
  • Heparin
  • Nitroglycerin (start)
  • Insulin
• Preferred: Experience with TAVR and CABG

️ Staffing & Support

• Charge Nurse: Free of assignment (may assist rarely)
• PCTs/PCAs: Ratio 8-12 patients per tech
• Monitor Techs: Available ️ but RNs must read tele strips
  • Tele monitors brand not specified
• RT Equipment: BiPAP, High-Flow, stable trach
  • RNs may need to troubleshoot, but not manage directly

️ Scheduling & Shifts

• Shifts: 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM / 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM
• Scheduling:
  • Charge nurse handles scheduling
  • Requests considered, but unit needs prioritized
• Weekends Required:
  • 4 weekend shifts per month
  • Days: Sat/Sun
  • Nights: Fri/Sat/Sun
• Holidays: Must work 3 of 5 major holidays
• Low Census Policy: May be called off partially or fully

Floating

• May float to ICU (within scope) and Med-Surg units

Dress Code

• Scrubs: Navy Blue
• Provided: No

Orientation

• 1 Day: NEO
• 1 Day: Clinical Education
• 1 Day: On the Floor
