    Job Details
  • RTO after booking is not allowed and is not allowed to be worked out onsite. Any call offs or additional RTO on unit, could possibly turn into a cancel and DNR.
  • WILL CERT FOR CHEMO.
  • Primarily Medical Surgical patients with Oncology history and occasional Chemotherapy administration.
  • Target Ratios: 1:6-7.
  • Contract staff will be assigned equally to the home unit staff to ensure that patients are covered with a registered nurse.
  • Contract staff may be preassigned to units as needed.
  • Like units includes floating to inpatient holding in the ED, or any alternate medical patient care location.
  • Shifts called out will need to have make up shifts rescheduled.
  • Attendance to monthly staff meetings.
  • UNIT SYSTEMS (Medication, Documentation, Communication): PYXIS, EPIC, SBAR.
  • UNIT ORIENTATION: 24 hrs (2 shifts).
  • SCRUBS: Navy Blue and white.
    Job Requirements
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 1 year.
  • Traveler Experience: Will accept 1st time travelers.
  • Locals Accepted / Rate Difference: Yes.
  • Skills: Administer chemo. Experience in an inpatient setting is required, Med/Surg, Colostomy care, Accessing Ports, Blood Product Administration, Central line blood draw, Peripheral Line Care/Management, PICC line management, Heparin, Insulin, Chemotherapy Administration, Monitoring Chemotherapy, Surgical drains, Chest tubes-Emerson/Pleur-evac, Nasal Cannula, Non-invasive airway management, Isolation Precautions, Wound Care/Wound Vac.
  • Certs: Chemotherapy administration certification is required prior to start; required to obtain prior to start. BLS.
  • PREFERRED SKILLS / CERTS / EXP: CPI. Charge nurse experience, OCN.
  • PATIENT DIAGNOSES: General medical-surgical diagnosis primary patient population. Administration of chemotherapy/biotherapy -IV, PO, or injection. AKI, Sepsis, Cancer, Septic shock, Pain, OD, Malignant Neoplasms, ARF, Encephalopathy, FTT, Diabetic foot ulcers, Heparin drips.
  • SPECIAL PROCEDURES / UNIT DETAILS: Daily Census 42. During times of increased census, typical ratios may be higher.
    Schedule Information
  • Shift: NIGHTS; Unit will accept contracts from 13 weeks+ up to March 15, 2025 (hard stop) to get the unit through the holidays.
  • RTO: 7 days MAX - NO CHRISTMAS RTO; 36 or 48 hours. If 48 then no OT billed until after 48.
  • Call Requirement: Call required if called off on a prescheduled shift.
  • Float Requirement: Floating required to similar units and alternate care locations with inpatients holding, such as inpatient holding in the ED, or any alternate medical patient care location.
  • Weekend Requirement: EVERY OTHER WEEKEND REQUIRED.
  • Contract staff will be assigned and expected to work a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team. Contract staff may be required to report to work during a catastrophic event, mass casualty or disaster.
