Registered Nurse - Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
Location: 1200 Pecan Street SE, Washington, DC 20032
Work Schedule: 12 x 3 Day Shift (36 hours per week) (Day OR Night both shifts available)
Duration: 13 weeks
Job Summary:
- We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
Key Responsibilities: - Monitor post-operative patients' levels of recovery and consciousness from anesthesia and provide updates to the medical team.
- Obtain and record patients' vital signs, including blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen levels.
- Observe patients for signs of complications or side effects from anesthesia and promptly intervene as necessary.
- Administer prescribed medications to treat pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms.
- Maintain accurate charting in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system and update patient files accordingly.
- Educate patients and their families on post-operative care, discharge instructions, and symptom management.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications: - Active and current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington, DC.
- Minimum of 2 years of PACU nursing experience.
- Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program.
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility.
Certifications: - Required: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
- Highly Desired: Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN).
Preferred Qualifications: - Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Strong ability to assess and manage post-operative complications.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience with EMR systems and hospital protocols.
