Job Title: RN - Clinical Risk Management Specialist
Location: Visalia, California
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Schedule: 40 Hours/Week (Full-Time)

Position Summary:
  • Serve as the primary liaison for patient and family grievances and clinical care concerns.
  • Investigate and analyze clinical risk occurrences; assist staff in identifying and addressing patient care issues.
  • Educate staff on risk prevention and ensure compliance with risk management policies.
  • Review and evaluate medical records; assist in legal claims and documentation as needed.
  • Provide orientation and ongoing risk management education for clinical staff and leadership.
  • Coordinate and support Department of Health Services (DHS) visits and reporting.
  • Collaborate with Performance Improvement (PI) teams to identify trends and develop process improvements.
  • Maintain clear, professional communication with medical staff, patients, and families.
  • Participate in and support Kaweah Health-wide risk reduction and prevention initiatives.
  • Respond to issues via the Occurrence Reporting system; provide analysis and recommendations.
  • Provide leadership coverage for Risk Management in the Director's absence.
Qualifications:

License/Certification:

  • Required: Active California RN License
  • Preferred: Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM)

Education:

  • Preferred: BSN, MSN, or currently enrolled in RN-BSN program

Experience:

  • Required:
    • Minimum 2 years acute hospital experience
    • Minimum 1 year clinical risk management experience
  • Preferred: Experience with Midas and Cerner or Epic systems

Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong critical thinking and analytical abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of clinical workflows and risk prevention best practices
Additional Information:
  • Must be familiar with JCAHO Sentinel Event and DHS Adverse Event policies.
  • Must be able to assess and respond to patient/family cultural, linguistic, and age-specific needs.
