Job Title: RN - Clinical Risk Management Specialist
Location: Visalia, California
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Schedule: 40 Hours/Week (Full-Time)
Position Summary: - Serve as the primary liaison for patient and family grievances and clinical care concerns.
- Investigate and analyze clinical risk occurrences; assist staff in identifying and addressing patient care issues.
- Educate staff on risk prevention and ensure compliance with risk management policies.
- Review and evaluate medical records; assist in legal claims and documentation as needed.
- Provide orientation and ongoing risk management education for clinical staff and leadership.
- Coordinate and support Department of Health Services (DHS) visits and reporting.
- Collaborate with Performance Improvement (PI) teams to identify trends and develop process improvements.
- Maintain clear, professional communication with medical staff, patients, and families.
- Participate in and support Kaweah Health-wide risk reduction and prevention initiatives.
- Respond to issues via the Occurrence Reporting system; provide analysis and recommendations.
- Provide leadership coverage for Risk Management in the Director's absence.
Qualifications: License/Certification:
- Required: Active California RN License
- Preferred: Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM)
Education:
- Preferred: BSN, MSN, or currently enrolled in RN-BSN program
Experience:
- Required:
- Minimum 2 years acute hospital experience
- Minimum 1 year clinical risk management experience
- Preferred: Experience with Midas and Cerner or Epic systems
Skills/Abilities:
- Strong critical thinking and analytical abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of clinical workflows and risk prevention best practices
Additional Information: - Must be familiar with JCAHO Sentinel Event and DHS Adverse Event policies.
- Must be able to assess and respond to patient/family cultural, linguistic, and age-specific needs.
