Recent PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) 2 years experience required Job & Shift Unit Perioperative Care Nampa Hospital Flr 2 Unit Type PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) Division Nursing Care Setting Acute Shift Length 12 Guaranteed Hours 36 hours per week Years of Experience 2 Years License to Submit Yes, willing to wait BSN Required No Orientation Hours 24 Hours Required Certifications ACLS, BLS, PALS Shift Notes Monday, Thursday, and Friday shift with possible call if needed Unit Notes Unit Preop/PACU EPIC EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Beds 18 beds: 13 General OR, 5 Endo Phase 1 and Phase 2? "Preop, PACU- Phase 1 & 2 Expect staff to be flexible and able to transition between all phases All staff are asked to rotate between the areas; depending on their shift start may start in Preop and then transition into PACU" Nurse:Patient Ratios "Preop Ratios 1:3, Phase 1 Ratios 1:2, Phase 2 Ratios 1: 1-3" Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?) BLS, ACLS, PALS Common Cases "Cases: General, Breast, Ortho, Urology, & OBGYN Job Duties: Get patient ready for surgery, recovery post anesthesia, manage airways, pain management They are a small unit so staff assist in restocking and turnover between patients " Experience or 'Must have' skills "Must have Preop & PACU, Must have 1 year of experience, Okay with first time travelers" EMR Epic Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Charge runs flow of the unit Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios "2 Aides in Preop Job Duties: EKGs, Blood draws, Blood sugars, transfer, pregnancy test, vitals, bladder scanning" RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc) "No RT- available for assist Anesthesia oversees area" ICU patients - do they recover in PACU? Yes, maybe once per month (not often) RNs read strips? Yes, must be able to read and identify rhythm changes and life threatening rhythm Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) "Day shift: Multiple start times between: 0530 to1300, Shifts 10-12 hrs, Unit has set schedules; made out by management " Weeknight/Call Requirements May be asked to go into call schedule Weekend/Call Requirements May be asked to go into call schedule Holiday/Call Requirements May be asked to go into call schedule What is call response time? 30 mins- ask the staff stay safe and arrive to campus safely Floating Requirements "May be asked to float to other areas (not typical);, Wouldn't be asked to float outside the hospital to another site" Scrub Color/Dress Code Scrubs provided Unit/Department specific orientation "3 days of orientation with a preceptor, General orientation typically 1-2 days including Hospital welcome, HR meeting, badges, and more; Modules expected to be complete prior to 1st day of orientation " Additional Notes "They are a family oriented dept with a great support system. They believe in being kind to everyone and that everyone gets to have a bad day- but it can't be every day., Idaho is a very diverse state with a lot of different types of activities that are very close. "
