Trauma Level? STEMI Receiving? Stroke Center? "small urgent care clinic (shared space with 2 other clinics during the week),2-3 RN on a shift open 8-8 all holidays except christmas, most RN working in ER " Beds/Trauma Bays "M-F 4 rooms Sat, Sunday 9-10 rooms high elevations and a lot of snow in the winter " Do you have a Fast Track No, all patients encompased within the 4-5 rooms, or 10 depending on time of week Do you have a separate Triage area? If so, do you allow/require travelers to do Triage? "might open one extra room for triage if getting busy, otherwise bedside triage. Triage skills relied on heavily for clinic throughput, everyone triaged within 10 minutes of arrival " Do you have a separate holding area in the ER or are ER holds intermixed w/in the ER? No, we transfer 10-20 patients/week to the ER across the street- either by ambulance, approved golf cart, or private vehicle, RNs need cleared to operate golf cart as considered fleet vehicle Do you have separate Psych/seclusion rooms? rare psych/ behavioral health patients Is Security in-house 24/7? Housed in the ER? campus security 24/7, one officer based out of the hospital that rounds throughout the day On average, how many patients do you treat in the ER/day? slow season 25 per day and busy 60 per day Nurse: Patient Ratios varies by census, 1 triage RN and 2 support staff, 1 triage to start the flow and jump in where needed. Group effort to care for all patients, all staff help all Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC, NRP, NIHSS?) "BLS, prefer ACLS if able RN have gone through trauma training due to nature of patients MVA, collapsed lungs, and transfer quickly critical access hospital supporting surrounding Valley county" Common diagnoses/Types of patients "Adults and peds mixed populations: Care for minor illnesses such as ear infections, sore throats, fevers, coughs, respiratory illness, Covid, vomiting, diarrhea, and urinary infection; minor injuries such as fractures, sprains, splintsand lacerations; minor work injuries, Lake related trauma/ injuries, sunburns and follow-up for suture removals or wound checks. RN to do POC testing/labs, ekg, IV fluids etc." Experience or 'Must have' skills Must Have: 1 year of ER experience, triage experience, be able to hit the ground running Prefer: previous travel experience Common drips? None, fluids and about give half a dozen IV push medications ED Physician/Mid-Levels PAs mostly, 3 part time MDs that rotate through 1/week Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Triage RN is the charge Nurse aids/EMT/Paramedics/Patient Sitters? Ratios? Duties? 2 medical assistant that rotate through, no PT or RT Is RT in the ER 24/7? Do they do ABG's, breathing Tx, & EKG's? RN to do Nebs and going across the street if need further interventions RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot? No Do you have Monitor Techs in the ER? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the Tele monitors? No, RNs to do EKGs if need longer tele monitoring transfer across the street to hospital ER X-Ray or CT in the ER? Transport? "Xray on site no other imaging. CT, US, MRI in hospital only" Does Phlebotomy draw labs or RN's draw? RNs to do phlebotomy, no phlebotomy Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) "Schedule made by manager, travelers are to filling in a core RN schedule 2-3 RNs on a shift open 8a-8p with 40 hour contracts, usually work out extra time with manger" Weekend Requirements Friday, Sat, Sunday every third weekend Holiday Requirements Yes, to join core staff rotaition, open for all holidays except Christmas Is there call or a standby requirement? No Floating Requirements No Scrub Color/Dress Code Any color clean scrubs Unit/Department specific orientation 2-3 shifts, volume dependent Additional Notes Comfortable with triage, all ages, and as the RN not a lot of support, primary care.
