looking for someone that is good in a fast-paced Ortho/medical environment. 1:5 nurse to patient ratio.

EPIC CHARTING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Unit 5 North Med/Tele Ortho and Complex MedSurg

- Beds 31

- Nurse:Patient Ratios typical ratio for all medsurg units is 1:5 up to 1:6 at times, ratio would be adjusted down for higher acuity patients

- Required certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?) BLS, charge RN's have ACLS

- Common diagnoses/Types of patients Ortho, postop total joints, general medsurg overflow

- Experience or 'Must have' skills level 1 trauma experience required. experience at a larger facility with a lot of surgeries/high acuity patients, must be comfortable with lines, chest tubes

- Are RNs required to titrate drips? heparin, could have an order for amio and that can be started and then patient would be transferred to cardiac unit

- Common titratable &/or set rate drips cardiac drips on 3 south only

- Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? every unit has tele capability, patients are monitored on all units, central monitor station will communicate with RN, 3south tele unit also has central monitors at nurses station and every patient is on tele

- Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Both. Nurse managers are in house M-F business hours, starting at 3pm M-F and all weekend there is an adult house sup. charge takes light patient assignment, will take full load of patients if needed. educator and manager for each unit. Smaller units share manager and eduacator.

- Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios all units

- RT Equipment (i.e., Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, vents, etc.) cpap bipap at night, RT to help, high flow on 2n,

- Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) 12 hours, 7a-7p, travelers are expected to fill holes but managers will try to accomodate block scheduling as schedule allows, open to weekenders if traveler would like to work every weekend but that is not required

- Weekend Requirement every other or 2 weekends per month is standard, could be higher to meet needs of department

- Holiday Requirement rotate in with regular staff

- Is there Call or a Standby requirement? no

- Floating Requirements? within skillset, all staff float between all medsurg units. higher acuity - patients would be given to core staff

- Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs provided? any color, needs to be solid color and professional

- Unit/Department specific orientation first day, all paperwork and attestations, logins for Omnicell and Epic, show around unit (a few hours), discuss scheduling. 2 additional shifts with preceptor
