- Weekly Gross: $3,270.00 Per Week

Position Overview:
Hays Medical Center is actively seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) for a 13-week day shift travel contract. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a Level III Trauma acute care hospital with a patient-centered culture and a supportive clinical team.
The PCU RN will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients requiring intermediate-level monitoring and intervention, often those transitioning from critical care or needing close cardiac and respiratory assessment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver competent and compassionate care to PCU patients in a 1:4-5 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Perform IV starts and medication administration, including titrating drips as needed
- Monitor and assess patient condition, interpret clinical data, and respond appropriately
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to provide patient-centered care
- Accurately document care in the Meditech electronic health record system
- Adhere to facility protocols and evidence-based nursing standards
- Float within scope of practice to other units based on facility needs
- Rotate weekends and participate in holiday coverage as required
Requirements:
- Active RN license - Kansas license required (no pending licenses accepted)
- Minimum 1 year of recent PCU or step-down experience - Required
- IV Start experience - Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) - Required
- First-time travelers accepted - Yes
- Floating requirement: Yes, to units within scope if short-staffed
- Weekend requirement: Rotation required
- Block Scheduling: Limited to 3 or 4 shifts per week; no extended block schedules
Local Rule: Travelers must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility
