Job Description: Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical at MUSC Health - Florence Position: Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical Specialty: MedSurg Shift: Night 4x12-Hour (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) Location: MUSC Health - Florence, 805 Pamplico Hwy, Florence, SC 29505 Job Duration: 13 weeks Compensation and Benefits:
• Weekly Gross: $2,829.00 Per Week
• On W2(Taxable): $960.00 Per Week ($20/hour)
• Stipend (Non-Taxable): $1,869.00 Per Week Job Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) in Medical Surgical at MUSC Health - Florence will be responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to patients on the MedSurg unit. The nurse will provide assessments, administer treatments and medications, and monitor patient progress while collaborating with other healthcare providers. This position requires expertise in medical-surgical nursing, telemetry, and rapid response. The role involves working 12-hour night shifts with some on-call duties and floating between like units as needed. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive nursing care for medical-surgical patients, including medication administration, wound care, and patient education.
• Monitor vital signs, manage insulin therapy, and respond to emergencies such as rapid response situations.
• Assist with telemedicine services, including monitoring and documenting telemetry readings.
• Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team, including physicians and other healthcare professionals, to ensure optimal patient care.
• Assist with patient assessments, charting, and maintaining patient records using the Epic system.
• Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and their families.
• Participate in patient discharge planning and provide necessary follow-up care instructions.
• Assist in patient transportation and coordination of care with other units or sister facilities.
• Be flexible in terms of shifts and responsibilities, adapting to unit needs as required.
• Participate in regular shift duties, including patient rounding, monitoring, and assisting with any necessary procedures. Required Qualifications:
• Active South Carolina (SC) RN license or Compact license (must be in hand prior to the start date).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Previous experience working with MS/Tele patients and rapid response teams.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical-surgical nursing role.
• Telemetry experience required.
• Experience with insulin management, rapid response procedures, and MedSurg nursing preferred.
• Epic experience is required.
• Ability to work weekends, with every other weekend required.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification. Work Schedule:
• 4x12-hour shifts, nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM).
• Flexibility to float between units as required by the facility's needs.
• Must be available to work on-call for low census or staffing shortages. Miscellaneous Information:
• Scrub Color: Royal Blue.
• Charting System: Epic.
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week; facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks.
• Parking: Free parking available for staff.
• Local Radius: 60 miles (no locals accepted). Vaccine Requirements:
• COVID-19 vaccine is not required by the facility.
• Flu vaccine is required, with medical/religious exemptions only.
