Equipment utilized in the unit/department: - EPIC experience REQUIRED - Plum IV pumps, Philips monitors. Required licensures, certificates/registrations, and/or life support certifications: - State of Idaho (or compact) RN license prior to start (can submit candidates with application pending)- BLS required - ACLS required - NIHSS required - CCRN preferred 4. Required skills, minimum years of experience, and/or education: - 2 years of recent ICU experience (minimum of 1 year w/in the past 3 years) - 1 year of recent CVICU experience and/or immediate post open heart experience strongly preferred- Must have previous travel experience- IABP and Impella experience within the past year is required 5. Shift or schedule requirements: - 12-hour shifts - No Call - Weekends and holidays as needed - Unable to approve time off requests outside of initial contract or extensions 6. Floating to other units/departments:- All expected to float to IMC/PCU with 1:4 ratios, large volume of post heart catheterization patients. - Patient population: arterial lines, chest tubes, epicardial pacers. Monitor tech and CNA support.7. Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/department: - Critical Care has a combined total of 32 beds: two 13 bed units and 6 overflow beds on 2 floors, ran as one unit.- Additional Critical Care capacity when needed in alternative units of hospital.- One HUC (health unit clerk) on each floor. - Any patient population could be mixed between Critical Care based on capacity- Patient population consists of 2 - 4 CV surgery cases (CABG, valve, TAVR, ECMO) per day, trauma varies based on season (ATV/watersports to winter/skiing accidents, MVAs), neurosurgical and complex spinal surgery, general medical- Cardiac and neuro specialists are required to care for general patients8. Nurse to patient ratio of this unit (nursing only): - Traditional staffing of 2:1 nurse patient ratio.- 1:1 for post-TPA, CRRT, IABP, Impella and immediate post open heart recovery ( 350+ open heart surgeries per year) - Critical Care will use the team nursing concept whenever patient volume (surge)/staffing requires. At the discretion of the charge nurse, traditional primary nurse staffing or team nursing model will be utilized on a shift to shift basis.- In the team nursing model, 3 nurses will care for up to 6 patients. At least 1 of the 3 nurses will be a primary Critical Care nurse. 9. Dress Code:- Navy blue scrubs required10. Tell us about the unit/department-specific training and orientation program:- Candidate will attend general hospital orientation (typically 8 hours), then be provided two 12-hour orientation shifts with a preceptor 11. Additional Comments:- Interdisciplinary collaboration with a growing team of Intensivists and Advanced Practice Providers with a model of mandatory consult to the intensivists for every patient in Critical Care.- One of the busiest heart centers in the Inland Northwest including a Cardiac Cath Lab, EP lab and IR lab offering progressive industry technology including TAVR procedures.- ECMO program using the Centrimag cardiac assist device with robust training, education and ongoing support with our dedicated ECMO Program Coordinator.- Magnet Status - Kootenai has maintained MagnetTM status since 2006.
