Unit Description Join our dedicated team in a 14-bed mental health unit specializing in the care of children and adolescents in transition. Our unit is designed to provide a safe and supportive environment for young patients facing behavioral health challenges.

• Position: BHU/Psych RN
• Experience Requirement: Minimum of 3 years as a Behavioral Health RN with children is mandatory. Overview As a Registered Nurse in our Behavioral Health Unit, you will provide comprehensive nursing services to patients requiring specialized care. You will assess the physical, psychosocial, and learning needs of patients, and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans. You will also delegate appropriate tasks and supervise ancillary staff.
About the Unit
• 24/7 onsite security to assist nursing staff during restraint episodes.
• Portable panic alarms for immediate behavioral health assistance, equipped with GPS tracking.
• Utilization of physical restraints, therapeutic holds, locked seclusion rooms, and 4-point locked Velcro restraints as necessary.
• Average nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:7.
• Support staff includes 3 techs/child life counselors for a census of 10 or more, with additional staff/sitters for 1:1 close observation as needed.
• Charting systems: Omnicell (Bridgeton & Woodbury) and Pyxis (Mannington).
• Flexibility to float between campuses to support various Psych units.
• Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a Child-Adolescent Psych Unit.
• RTO (Request Time Off) must be listed on the cover page; no additional RTO will be approved after the offer. Experience and Requirements
• Licensure: Valid NJ RN license or compact license.
• Contract Length: 13 weeks.
• Specialty Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Behavioral Health.
• Weekend/Schedule: Must be available for 12-hour shifts from Sunday to Saturday, including weekends.
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday.
• RTO: No more than 3 days.
• Certifications: BLS, PALS (AHA).
• Scrub Color: Navy.

• Client may cancel (call-off) up to one (1) shift per two week period without paying for the cancelled hours. First day instructions(FDI):
• FDI are emailed directly by the hospital. Please expect 3 emails on the Friday before Monday start date. Please be sure to look in the junk folder as well - emails are sent usually around 2:00 pm on Friday.
• Monday is a virtual day - Teams call starts around 8:30 - 9 am. Invite/link sent via email. After the Teams meeting, continue the day with 'at your pace' modules sent by the facility.
• Badge appointment is emailed by the facility to issue the badge and review policy/procedures. The ID badge is very important to obtain prior to Orientation Shift. This is how you will clock in and out - so you can be paid accurately.
• Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday - orientation classes are scheduled ONSITE 1-4 hours long in early afternoon and details are sent after Monday meeting is completed. These are MUST attend and cannot be rescheduled or missed- you will take the end of class assignment which is required to schedule the orientation shift.
• Orientation shift - Fri/Sat/Sun shift which will be at the time of the shift hired for and schedule will be made available after Tue/Wed/Thur orientation classes have been completed.
• The POCT class is scheduled for the 2nd or 3rd week of the assignment. Please share your POCT class date with us once received and remember to attend.
• You must be available for the full 7 days of the first week for Orientation. No special scheduling is permitted for orientation. If you cannot attend or miss any part of the full orientation the offer will be rescinded.
