Job Title: Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Job Summary:

Seeking an experienced and compassionate PCU RN to join a high-acuity stepdown unit providing care for trauma and neuro patients. Ideal candidates are skilled in critical interventions and thrive in fast-paced, team-oriented environments.

Unit Overview:

• Unit Size: 44 beds

• Staffing:

  • Day Shift: 2 CNC/Charge RNs, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, 1 HUC

  • Night Shift: 2 CNC/Charge RNs, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, 1 HUC

• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 4:1 at grid, 5:1 at stretch

• Equipment Used: IV pumps, Skylifts, PCA pumps, chest tubes, trachs, patient lifts

• EMR System: Cerner

Typical Procedures:

• Neuro and spinal assessments

• C-collar and TLSO brace application

• Chest tube management

• PCA pump usage

• IV infusions

• Lumbar drain care

• Feeding tube placements

• Blood transfusions

Required Qualifications:

• 1 year recent PCU or related acute care experience

• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications

• Proven experience with neuro and trauma patients

Preferred Experience:

• Prior exposure to high-acuity stepdown or trauma units

• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills

Additional Info:

• Floating Required: Yes - to other stepdown and med-surg units
