Med Surg RN - Acute Care 1 - Albany, GA
Unit: Acute Care 1 - Medical Surgical
Location: Albany, Georgia Assignment Details:

• Setting: Acute Care
• Division: Nursing
• Shift: 12-hour shifts (6:45 AM-7:15 PM or 6:45 PM-7:15 AM)

• Schedule: 3x12 hours per week (36 guaranteed hours)

  
  

Unit & Patient Information:

• Patient Ratios: 1:6 for both day and night shifts
• Patient Population:
  • Diabetic, CHF, COPD, GI bleed, renal failure, dialysis patients
  • Some overflow post-surgical cases (amputations, debridements, wound care)
  • DVTs, ETOH withdrawal, psychiatric cases (future hospice patients)
• Common Medications: Lasix, Bumex, Heparin
• Respiratory Support: CPAP (day/night), BiPAP (nights only)
• Monitor Use: Yes, monitored on a different unit; RN not required to interpret strips

Team & Support Structure:

• Charge Nurse: Available (generally without a patient assignment unless needed)
• CNA Staffing: 1:12 ratio (subject to change for 1:1 sitters)
• Primary Care Nursing model used
• Support Units: Float to all acute care, cardio units, and emergency center (EC) for patient holds

Experience & Certifications Required:

• Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent Med-Surg experience
  • Must have worked in a large hospital with high acuity and turnover (not Critical Access Hospitals)
• Licenses:
  • Active RN license required at submission
• Certifications:
  • BLS (Required)
  • NIHSS (Required)
  • ACLS (Preferred)

Other Requirements:

• Charting System: MEDITECH 6.1
• Dress Code:
  • Caribbean Blue top and bottom OR
  • White top with Caribbean Blue bottom OR
  • All white
• Compliance Rules:
  • Strict 75-mile radius rule (address from driver's license must be submitted)
  • No artificial or shellac nails (only polished nails allowed due to infection control)
  • No bags allowed at nurses' stations; lockers available (bring a lock)
