CERNER REQUIRED - Unit: ED - beds: 18 Beds (Fast track staffed with midlevel's & LVNs) - Certs: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, - Ratios: 1 to 4 unless ICU patient would be 1 to 2 - EMR: Cerner - Charge Nurse: Shift manager & a resource nurse - Nurse Aides: ED Techs are EMT or aides from other units - Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts in a 4 week schedule Weekends are Fri/Sat for nights & Sat/Sun for days" - Holidays: 1 major & 1 minor - Scrub Color: Navy blue. If you wear a scrub jacket it also must be navy. If you wear an undershirt underneath your scrub top it must be navy, white, or black. - Tele: Phillips - Vents: yes - Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: Yes - only use MD's in the ER - IV Team: No - RT 24/7: Yes - Pharmacy 24/7: Yes & Omnicell - Shifts: 12's Days: 7a-730p; 9a-9:30p; Mids:10a-10:30p, 11a-11:30p, 1p-1:30a, 3p-3:30a; Nights 7p-7:30a. Self scheduling but not finalized until the manager balances it. Schedules are for 4 weeks. Block scheduling is not guaranteed - Floating: Floating could happen between the 2 facilities to the ER. If floated prior to shift, would get a 2 hour notice prior start. Midshift floating could happen. The facilities are only 6.5 miles apart. - Floor specific orientation: 2 shifts at the primary campus & 1 shift at the other campus - Common diagnosis / Types of patients: Less peds than Mercy Southwest campus. This campus has CDCR (correctional patients) officer comes from the prison & stays with them. All OB are transfer to the other campus. A little more homeless & indigent population here. No cardiac patients. These would be stabilized & transferred out. - Additional Notes: This must be their primary job. They will not work around another work schedule to accommodate hours. Must be very teamwork oriented. They treat between 85 - 115 patients per day with an average of 100 patients per day.
