Job Summary:
Hospital or Cancer Center Name is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) to join our growing oncology team. The ideal candidate will provide specialized nursing care to adult patients undergoing cancer treatment, including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgical recovery, symptom management, and end-of-life care.
This role requires advanced clinical skills, emotional resilience, and a deep commitment to supporting patients and families throughout the cancer journey. Whether in an inpatient, outpatient, or infusion setting, the Oncology RN will serve as a vital advocate, educator, and caregiver.
Key Responsibilities: - Provide direct and individualized nursing care to oncology patients across various stages of treatment and recovery
- Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, and supportive medications safely and per protocol
- Monitor patient responses to treatments and adjust nursing care accordingly
- Perform thorough assessments, document findings in the electronic health record (EHR), and communicate changes in condition to the healthcare team
- Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment options, side effects, symptom management, and survivorship
- Support patients through cancer-related challenges including fatigue, pain, nausea, neutropenia, and emotional distress
- Collaborate with oncologists, pharmacists, nurse navigators, social workers, palliative care, and other interdisciplinary professionals
- Maintain strict adherence to infection prevention, chemotherapy handling, and safety protocols
- Provide compassionate end-of-life care and emotional support in coordination with hospice or palliative services as needed
- Participate in oncology research, clinical trials, and quality improvement initiatives when applicable
Required Qualifications: - Active RN license in the state of State
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN preferred)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum of 1 year experience in oncology, medical-surgical, or acute care nursing
