  • Parking: Assigned to a parking lot, and then will be shuttled to the facility. Night shift: Assigned to a parking garage
  • Travelers can be expected to have nursing students, this is a teaching hospital
  • Facility highlight: Located in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona, St. Joseph's is a 607 bed, nationally recognized center for quality tertiary care, medical education and research. Lung transplant specialty. Liver and Kidney Transplant as well. Associated with the Barrow Neuro Institute, world's institute.
  • All profiles must include: Unit size, Hospital size, Trauma Level, EMR(cerner experience)
  • 2 years of CORE experience required in specialty being submitted to; Level 1 Trauma and Teaching experience required
  • Facility will not consider any contract shorter than 13 weeks
  • Prophecy Dysrhythmia Exam required 24-48hrs prior to acceptance of a position. Maximum attempts is 2: Required for: Ambulance Transport, Cardiac Cath Lab, ICU, CVICU, EP Lab, ER, Helicopter Transport (Flight), House Supervisor, PACU/Recovery, PCU, PICU, Pre-op/PACU, Stepdown, Telemetry/IMC, Transitional ICU/TCU units. IF FAILED, will be DNU for 6 months within Commonspirit AZ and Sacramento Region

    Job Requirements
  • ACLS, BLS; MUST HAVE LEVEL 1 TRAUMA EXP
  • NO FIRST TIME TRAVELERS
  • MUST HAVE EVD EXPERIENCE
  • Medical Solutions Pre-Screens, if clinical recommends, AUTO OFFER
  • Candidate is required to pass DYS exam PRIOR to accepting. 2 attempts, if failed, DNU for 6 months with CS AZ and Sac Region
  • DAY 1 PASS/FAIL SIMs Lab: All RNs will be expected to complete SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion & central line dressing changes, with the exception of NyICU & ED. NyICU only has to do Foley catheter insertion. ED does Foley catheter insertion but does port-a-cath insertion instead of central line dressing change. This is for travelers going to St. Joseph main campus &/or St. Joseph Westgate campus. NOTE - SIMs lab is pass/fail & nurses have been termed during SIMs Lab for breaking sterile field. Those travelers that understand sterile field typically pass SIMs Lab skills (See separate notes for the specific checklist IF traveler asks for additional details). The hospital expects that every nurse is competent in these areas, especially maintaining sterile field, as these are nursing skills that are performed frequently. NOTE: if a candidate indicates that they are not competent in either of these areas, they are probably not a good fit. In addition to SIMs Lab, they will also go through lifts, restraints, & wound care, but these are just educational based since the equipment & policies can be different facility to facility.
    Schedule Information
  • 12hr / 7-7 shifts
  • May be placed on Standby for a scheduled shift
  • Work into core staff rotation
  • 2 shifts on the floor for floor specific orientation
  • 4 total weekend shifts per 4 weeks
  • 2 out of 3 major holidays

  • Common diagnosis / Types of patients: Any patient that would qualify for critical care with a neuro diagnosis. Hospital does cranis, brain tumor removal and ablations, brain biopsies, complicated spine surgeries and scoliosis repair.
