Job Details - Med/Surge Nurses provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles.
- Responsibilities include consulting and coordinating with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
- Preparing and administering prescribed medications and reporting adverse reactions.
- Educating patients on surgical procedures.
- Recording patients' medical information and vital signs.
- Monitoring and adjusting specialized equipment used on patients, and interpreting and recording electronic displays.
- Initiating corrective action whenever the patient displays adverse symptomatology.
- Providing bedside care for a wide variety of medical patients, including pre- and post-surgery patients.
- Initiating patient education plan as prescribed by physician and teaching patients and significant others how to manage their illness/injury.
- Changing dressings, inserting catheters, starting IVs.
- Preparing equipment and aiding physician during examination and treatment of patient.
- Responding to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocol.
- Participating in discharge planning.
- Utilizing time management skills.
- Recording all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms.
- Performing other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment setting.
Job Requirements - Must have Wyoming RN license (must be attached to resume).
- Must have ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications through the American Heart Association (must be attached to submission).
