Job Details - Facility in Eastern Nebraska is looking for several traveling Med-Surg nurses.
- The hospital is looking for both day and night shift coverage.
- The shift will be twelve hours, 13-26 Week Contracts, 36-48 hour guarantees.
Job Requirements - BLS required
- ACLS preferred
- Driver's license required at submittal and will be used to determine if candidate is outside 50 miles.
Schedule Information - SELF SCHEDULING.

- Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirements: 2-3 Holidays from Thanksgiving to New Years.
- Floating Requirements: Yes to other medical surgical areas or units with MedSurg patients waiting for a MedSurg bed.
Additional Details - Common diagnosis / Types of patients: MedSurg/Tele- joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, ortho trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, failure to thrive.
- Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
- Are RN's required to titrate drips?: Heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine
- Common titratable &/or set rate drips: PCA pumps
- Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Yes
- Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: Yes- 1:10-20
- Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RN's required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: Tele techs will interpret, RNs should have some tele awareness.
- How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 2 days
- Have mechanical lifts in every other room, Big focus on hourly rounding and responsiveness, This unit typically has multiple discharged and admissions in one day- a nurse is successful on this unit when they can manage the business of the day, have good attendance, are a team player, friendly, compassionate, and cares about patients first. They serve patients of all cultures on this unit including Spanish, Karen, Burmeese.
