    Job Details
  • Provide quality patient care to all patients within the medical imaging department.
  • Perform high quality images and exams on patients while maintaining sensitivity to patient needs.
  • Follow standards of safe radiation practice.
  • Demonstrate leadership abilities and be a role model for other associate technologists.
  • Act as a clinical resource to unit personnel and assure current standards of practice for the unit.
  • Perform mammography examinations and meet quality standards set by Radiologists and ACR guidelines.
  • Perform breast ultrasounds when required.
  • Practice all rules and regulations pertaining to radiation safety, reducing personal and patient exposure to ALARA.
  • Assist in breast biopsies with physicians and handle appropriate paperwork and specimens.
  • Produce quality images in a complete, accurate and timely manner.
  • Prepare patient for exam and provide information and instruction to patient and/or family regarding the procedure.
  • Respond to physical and emotional needs of patients.
  • Assist the patient during exam and position the patient.
  • Observe patient and equipment during the procedure and report/document unusual occurrences and patient's condition.
  • Facilitate smooth patient flow, scheduling and optimal use of equipment/resources.
  • Communicate in writing and verbally with physicians, imaging personnel, students and hospital staff to facilitate continuum of care.
  • Assist with patient transport as needed.
  • Perform IV starts and contrast administration as required.
  • Perform technologist duties of other registered modality as assigned by management.
  • Correctly input charges and required data for procedures and supplies utilized during the procedure/exam.
  • Complete required hospital/medical imaging paperwork for each exam performed.
  • Prepare room, equipment, and exam materials needed for exam.
  • Maintain technical operation of equipment and notify service when necessary.
  • Notify supervisor of equipment problems and log service calls/problems per department procedure.
  • Maintain clean work area for employees and patients.
  • Maintain quality checks and equipment maintenance documentation per department procedure.
  • Be proactive in problem identification and follow up with appropriate management personnel.
  • Establish a motivating, constructive rapport with physicians, staff and system departments.
  • Maintain high skill level through ongoing education and meeting attendance and share information with staff.
  • Participate in clinical training for students and/or staff technologists.
  • Engage in professional activities through involvement in organizations, journal clubs, online education, etc.
  • Actively participate in department/hospital quality and process improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with all State, Federal, accreditation and hospital regulations and standards.
  • Contribute to ACR accreditation as requested.
    Job Requirements
  • One year imaging experience strongly preferred

  • Adapts to rapidly changing technologies, policies, regulations, census and staffing through priority setting and flexibility.
  • Floating may be required to any CommonSpirit location within sixty (60) miles of the original assignment location or CommonSpirit-identified float zone .
  • Float assignments may include duties outside of original assignment job requirements (including skill set) in accordance with CommonSpirit policy.
