  • 2:30p-11p

Shift: Nights & Mids

  • 5 x 8's

Weekends: every other weekend
RTO: None preferred
Certs: AHA BLS
Licenses: Active Texas LPN/LVN Licensure
Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as the licensed professional they are applying for. For example, an LVN who has just completed RN school must have 2+ years of experience as an RN when applying for that sort of position.
  • Psych experience is a must - experience working in a maximum-security unit
  • Experience with a larger med pass
  • Agency nurses float first. Please explain expectations.
  • Need to have clear written and verbal communication skills, they have to communicate with peers, DSPs, PCPs, and also the individuals who live here.
  • Must possess valid LVN license.
  • Must comply with HHSC immunization requirements.
  • Must submit to HHSC required drug test.
  • Must submit to HHSC required fingerprinting.
  • Must complete facility and HHSC required training.
  • Required- 2 references from 2 different places of work in submittal packets
  • COVID Vaccine Requirement: Vaccine required

Overview: Facility Name: Kerrville State Hospital Location: 721 Thompson Dr Kerrville Texas 78028 United States Facility size: 202-bed facility Scrub Requirement: Navy blue scrubs. Scrubs are required beginning on the first day of orientation. Parking: onsite Pay Cycle: Sunday-Saturday EMR: Pending Case Types: Psych Job Description: Performs advanced vocational nursing work. Provides for the care, treatment, and general welfare of individuals residing at Kerrville State Hospital who have complex medical, mental health and/or behavioral health issues. Performs basic and advanced routine and non-routine nursing tasks to promote the health of the individuals within the assigned areas and assigned shift. Administers medication to patients. Collects specimens for lab work and performs health screenings. Instructs direct support professionals and other staff on how to provide service and care that support the individual's medical needs. Performs technical nursing procedures according to facility and state regulations. Keeps informed of and follows all agency and Kerrville State Hospital policies and procedures. Provides direction and assists with on-the-job training to others such as newly hired LVNs and direct care staff. Provides on-the-job nursing instruction and training for new LVNs, within their scope of practice, as requested by RN Supervisor. Evaluates nursing intervention outcomes and provides input to other members of the healthcare team. Assists RNs with implementation of protocols, procedures and programs to improve overall health and safety of staff and individuals. Works under the limited supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
