Location: Lafayette, IN
Shift: M-F 07:00-15:30

Job Description:

We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Rad Tech specializing in Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Radiology (IR) to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the operation of the heart catheterization laboratory suite, ensuring high-quality patient care and safety. This position requires on-call availability, with a schedule of 1-2 days a week and every 3rd or 4th weekend based on departmental needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate diagnostic fluoroscopy and various cardiac equipment in the heart catheterization laboratory.
  • Monitor patient vitals and perform routine calculations during procedures.
  • Circulate and assist the physician during procedures as requested.
  • Prepare procedure rooms, equipment, and patients for procedures.
  • Act as a liaison to the hospital Radiation Safety Officer (RSO).
  • Document procedures accurately in the procedure log to ensure proper billing and charge capture.
  • Conduct hemodynamic monitoring of patients during procedures and report values to the performing physician.
  • Monitor radiation dose delivery to patients, ensuring minimal exposure to staff.
  • Transmit, archive, and retrieve digital images using Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS).
  • Perform quality control standards and regular maintenance of fluoroscopy equipment.
  • Adapt communication and behavior to meet the needs of diverse patient populations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Required: Associate degree in Radiologic Sciences.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Sciences.

Experience:

  • Required: Minimum of 2 years of experience as an allied health professional.

Certifications:

  • Required:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months of hire.
    • Registered Radiologic Technologist in the state of practice and registration from The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a high-stress environment.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to perform complex tasks that may be hazardous to patient welfare and detect equipment malfunctions.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory radiation requirements.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including 24/7 availability, weekends, holidays, and on-call duties.

Physical and Environmental Demands:

  • Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissues.
  • The incumbent will work in a patient care area and may have occupational risks for exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials.
