    Job Details
  • The Pharmacist works in collaboration with the Director of Pharmacy and compounds and dispenses medications and pharmaceutical supplies upon receiving written prescriptions from physicians.
  • Participates in Performance Improvement plans within the hospital.
  • Consults with and advises Administration, Medical Staff and hospital staff on quality, regulatory and risk issues.
  • Supports and serves as consultant to all clinical and Medical Staff.
  • Assists the Director in coordinating and implementing Pharmacy activities.
  • Interprets medication orders, compounds and dispenses medication and other pharmaceutical preparations according to legal, ethical and professional standards.
  • Supervises technical support staff.
  • Assists with clinical, quality management and education programs.
  • Provides support for all departments with respect to care of adult and geriatric patients.
  • Participates in maintenance and dissemination of drug information through in-service education and consultation.
  • Directs activities and provides professional and technical guidance to Pharmacy personnel.
  • Exercises professional judgment in imparting therapeutic and drug information to patients and health professionals.
  • Capable of entering a minimum of 40 orders per four hour shift.
  • Generates required reports including Pick I.V. and Production reports.
  • Performs backup procedures correctly.
  • Assists Technicians in technical tasks and maintains aseptic techniques.
  • Checks technician prepared products prior to release and ensures accuracy.
  • Maintains I.V. refrigerator temperature and hood cleaning logs.
  • Fills orders with correct medication and prioritizes work to prepare STAT, Now and Waiting orders.
  • Reviews patient profiles to ensure appropriate and safe drug therapy, preventing therapeutic duplication, significant drug interactions, and avoidable adverse drug reactions.
  • Must have knowledge of patient population served including pharmacokinetics dosing service and appropriate dose modifications.
  • Keeps current on new drugs and maintains security of Pharmacy and controlled substances.
  • Prepares unit of use dosage when possible and keeps Director informed of workload status.
    Job Requirements
  • Must have Colorado Board of Pharmacy (BOP) license.
  • Must have BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Preferred 2 years recent Pharmacy experience in a hospital setting.
    Schedule Information
  • Shifts are Monday-Friday, 8:15am-4:45pm.
  • Starting June: 4 weekday shifts, 10-hour shifts.
