Required Education:
- Bachelor's Degree or certificate of completion of Cytotechnology.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- Cytologist (CT) - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
- BLS-AHA.
Job Summary:
The Cytologist participates in specialized and complex technical tasks involved in the processing and screening of cytologic specimens to detect evidence of cancer or other pathological conditions, ensuring the efficient and accurate testing of patient specimens. Participate in specialized and complex technical tasks involved in screening slides of clinical specimens, both gynecologic and non-gynecologic, for evidence of cancer or other pathological conditions according to departmental terminology and protocols including marking abnormalities, rendering diagnoses and determining cases for quality control or subsequent review with pathologist; performs various Quality Control and Quality Assurance procedures to maintain compliance with internal and external regulations and protocols; perform rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE) using tele-pathology system in the collection, processing and immediate evaluation of Fine Needle Aspirations.
