Skills

Required Skills & Experience:

• Knowledge of medical terminology, isolation and sterile techniques/procedures
• Patient positioning and equipment operation (x-ray machines and printers)

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of related experience

Education

Required:

• Graduation from ARRT-accredited Radiologic Technology school

Preferred:

• N/A

Certifications & Licensure (Required):

• ARRT Certification
• Ohio Radiographer License
• BLS (American Heart Association)

Job Description

Operate CT scanners to obtain diagnostic images of specified body parts. Must produce quality images for radiologist interpretation and function independently with minimal supervision.

Job Responsibilities

• Greet patient, introduce self, and confirm patient's name and birthdate
• Take patient history, review procedure order, verify medications, allergies, and questionnaire completion
• Explain procedures and answer patient/family questions
• Keep patient and family informed, respond to concerns, and follow up as necessary
• Maintain professional communication with coworkers, physicians, and office staff
• Adhere to hospital/Imaging Center policies and core values
• Position patient, scan, and archive images per protocol
• Use proper venipuncture techniques for contrast administration
• Administer and label contrast media per protocol or physician direction
• Document all medications used during procedures
• Reconcile medications to check for interactions with contrast
• Work efficiently and productively
• Assist coworkers in other modalities when appropriate (IVs, patient prep, computer tasks)
• Assist physicians with invasive procedures
• Verify and act upon physician orders
• Use radiation-reducing techniques without compromising image quality
• Ensure safety for patients and staff from radiation exposure
• Wear and switch dosimeter as required
• Use safe lifting/moving devices for patients
• Observe patients and assist to minimize fall or injury risk
